Here is the finished product of 'Permanence'! My mythical cat tale about loss for all ages.
Firstly, lot of the plot points had to be ignored for the actual trailer to be simple to follow and not overwhelming for my viewers; along with production time being on a budget and time limit. It was a challenge to produce a stop motion animation in a non-controlled environment such as the woods, as leaves moved in the background, water ripples in the lakes and so on! So, I had to come up with a lot of different ways to produce my ideal vision with what I had.
Overall, I think the final product came out wonderfully and really shows off a lot of my skills in different mediums along with how I solve problems quickly whilst on set. As long as it looked like the storyboard, I didn't matter to me how I produced the scene! If it replicated it perfectly, I was happy to get in difficult positions and angles to get it done!
This project was truly wonderful to work on and I hope to continue working on it in the future with a better budget and more advanced skills in the medium. I feel like this story can truly help a lot of people whose passed pets were their family and closest relatives. It's a grief that no one truly talks properly about due to fear of sounding like a crazy cat lady or overall just being too dramatic... We're too scared for someone to say 'Oh it was just a dog!' to say how much we miss our pets out loud. Hopefully this project will help end this stigma and allow all of us to grieve properly when our furry buddies pass on.
